At the JK Insurance Group, there is nothing we enjoy more than a nice hike in the woods or a weekend camping trip. We’re blessed to call this beautiful state of North Carolina home, and become neighbors to some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. This comes with responsibility, however. It’is our job to keep our trails, parks, campsites, and lakes clean, healthy, and ready to enjoy for generations to come.
So, to aid you on your next trip out into nature, we have put together a little list of outdoor Do’s and Don’ts to make sure you have fun, stay safe, and stay conscious of the land and wildlife around you.
DO spread the word about your trip. Make sure your friends and family know when and where you are going.
DO bring plenty of water. Hydration is always key. Too much is better than too little!
DO make a plan for dealing with your waste. Always take out what you bring in.
DO enjoy the beauty and take plenty of pictures. Don’t forget to send us some!
DON’T leave any campfires burning overnight or after you leave a campsite. Smokey is watching.
DON’T forget the essentials. This can range from the right jacket to a can opener. Always go prepared!
DON’T assume just because you can’t see a bear, that there are none close by. NC is home to an estimated 15,000 bears. Always stay vigilant and respectful of their home.
DON’T disrupt rocks, trees, or vegetation just to get that perfect Instagram picture. There’s nothing cool about damaging the environment.
Would you like to help us preserve our beautiful state even more? Recommend your friends, family, and co-workers to us, and we’ll donate $10 to our local parks and trails for each person we quote! So, how many names can you come up with?
