Since 1997, Friends for Animals Humane Society of Burke County has been dedicated to providing hope and second chances for homeless, abandoned, and surrendered dogs and cats throughout Western North Carolina. As one of the region’s largest no-kill animal shelters, the organisation is committed to ensuring every animal receives compassionate care, proper medical treatment, nutritious food, and a safe environment while they wait to find their forever family.
But their mission extends far beyond sheltering animals. Friends for Animals actively promotes responsible pet ownership through adoption services, community education, spay and neuter initiatives, and outreach programmes that help reduce pet homelessness across Burke County. Every adoption represents a new beginning, not only for the pet finding a loving home but also for the family gaining a loyal companion who will enrich their lives for years to come.
The dedicated staff and volunteers work tirelessly every day to care for animals of all ages and backgrounds, many of whom arrive frightened, neglected, or in need of medical attention.
